Rice bran oil (RBO), obtained from the rice bran in paddy processing as a byproduct, is an edible vegetable oil with high nutritional value because of its abundant vitamins and many other bioactive substances as well as the balanced fatty acid profile for human nutrition. The Chinese related government offices have claimed the target of the utilization rate of the paddy byproducts should reach 50% by 2020 in its development plan.
RBO is not only the oil with nutrition and delicacy, but also a resource that will not compete for farm lands.
RBO is widely used as a premium edible oil in the world, especially in Asia. Since the establishment in 2014, the International Association of Rice Bran Oil (IARBO) has successfully held the International Conference of Rice Bran Oil (ICRBO) five times sequentially in China, India, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam, aiming to setup a platform for RBO industry to communicate the frontier research and trends as well as to discuss all potential issues involved in production and application besides the promotion of RBO for higher value uses, and for researchers to have an effective channel to extend research fields and establish cooperative relationship, vigorously promote the fundamental research and industrial development of RBO.
The 6th ICRBO will be held in Guangzhou in 26-28 Jun., 2019. More details are as follows(also linked on website: www.oils.net.cn)
